The Battle Behind the Stress

Have you ever felt like you’re always in a warzone fighting battles but you’re not? Always fighting, feeling overwhelmed, reckless, or afraid you were losing control? If you have, you’re not alone.

The Battle Behind the Stress

Laeh found herself in a workplace that felt less like a job and more like a battlefield. Every shift was survival mode—just trying to pay bills and make it through the day. But the stress never eased. The clients, the environment, the management, the relentless pressure… even her own thoughts began turning against her. She wasn’t eating properly, wasn’t sleeping properly, and each shift drained her until she felt hollow, like her soul stepped out of her body.

She tried to escape, applying for other jobs, but every door slammed shut. She felt trapped.

Slowly, bitterness, anger, resentment, and dark thoughts began to fill her heart. Then the dreams started—violent, chaotic dreams of being chased, hiding, war, tsunamis, even fighting demons. Her sleep broke apart. Her body developed strange symptoms doctors couldn’t explain. Some tests were normal, others abnormal, but nothing added up.

She cried out to God, “What is happening to me? Do I need to see a psychiatrist?” But instead of sending her to a clinic, God led her to teaching about spiritual warfare.

If the attack was spiritual, she needed to fight spiritually.

So, she became intentional about entering God’s presence. She prayed. She read Scripture. She built a small altar in her room. And as she sought Him, God began to reveal the real battle behind everything—and began to heal her.

He showed her that idolatry—anything placed above God—opens the door for the enemy. Her bitterness, anger, and resentment had become footholds. Every act of disobedience becomes a small stronghold the enemy uses to torment. The stress she felt wasn’t only emotional or physical; it had a spiritual root.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood… but against the spiritual forces of evil.

Ephesians 6:12

The torment she felt—her disturbed mind, her unexplained sickness—was the manifestation of a spiritual battle she didn’t know she was in.

But God didn’t just expose the attack—He revealed the victory.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6

Many believers live defeated simply because they don’t know the authority they carry. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy—but Jesus came to give life in overflowing abundance (John 10:10).

Through Scripture, God showed her that the enemy was already defeated at the cross.

Believers overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.

Revelation 12:11

The moment you accept Jesus as your Saviour, you receive authority to stand against the enemy.

I have given you authority… over all the power of the enemy.

Luke 10:19

So, God called her to stand in her identity—redeemed, protected, and covered.

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you… you are mine.

Isaiah 43:1

She learned to put on the full armour of God, to take her stand against the enemy’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10–11). The blood of Jesus covered her. His authority silenced the enemy. His peace guarded her heart.

She began sharing these revelations with friends, though not everyone understood.

Then one night at work, the spiritual atmosphere shifted. The ward erupted into chaos. Security was called twice. A colleague said she felt a strange wind sweep through the ward just before everything broke loose.

But this time, Laeh wasn’t helpless. She recognized the spiritual disturbance immediately. With the authority God had taught her, she stood her ground and declared:

Every evil spirit troubling this place—stop. Go back to the pit of hell where you belong. You are not welcome here. I apply the blood of Jesus over this ward. You have been defeated. Jesus died for these people. Angels of God, protect this place.

And the ward fell silent. Peace settled. The chaos stopped until morning.

Because when a believer stands in their God‑given authority, the enemy has no choice but to flee.

Reflection

Sometimes the greatest spiritual battles don’t begin with demons, darkness, or dramatic moments. They begin quietly—with exhaustion, bitterness, resentment, and the slow erosion of peace.

When we stop guarding our hearts, when anger becomes normal, when resentment becomes familiar, when we stop praying, stop resting, stop listening—the enemy doesn’t need permission. We give him access through neglect.

But the moment we turn back to God, even with trembling hands, heaven responds. Authority is restored. Peace returns. The spiritual fog begins to lift.

The battle is real—but so is your authority.

Reflection Questions

  • What idols or emotions have I been storing that may be opening doors I didn’t realise?
  • Where have I been trying to survive instead of surrendering?
  • What area of my life needs spiritual authority today?

Prayer

God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I am sorry for all the known and unknow sins I’ve done. I believe that because of Your great love for me, You sent Your only Son- Jesus Christ to die on the cross as an atonement for my sins. I thank You for this grace. I believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, but on the third day He rose again, He defeated death. I dethrone myself for being the god in my life, I enthrone Jesus as my God and Saviour. Please reveal the battles I’ve been fighting silently. Close every door opened through idolatry, unforgiveness, fear, or anger. Cover my mind, my home, and my workplace with Your peace. Help me stand on the authority You have given me. Teach me to fight with Your Word, not my emotions. Surround me with Your presence and silence every voice of darkness. I choose and receive Your peace today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Challenge

This week, take one intentional step to reclaim spiritual ground:

  • Speak peace over your home.
  • Pray over your workplace.
  • Renounce one emotion that’s been controlling you.
  • Declare Scripture aloud every morning.

Small steps shift atmospheres.

Closing

You’re not fighting alone. The battle belongs to the Lord—but remember you have been given the authority to defeat the enemy.
